v10.2a marks the second major release since the release of NextGen (see 05/30/2019: v10.0 Enterprise Release Notes and 10/03/2019: v10.1 Enterprise Release Notes). Referring to the v10.0 release notes, you will see these features come directly from the roadmap notes.
The largest feature of this release is Reports. With this feature, it is possible to get a formatted PDF report of the visual dashboard. There are a large number of formatting options, including a customizable cover page, with or without a dashboard screenshot, custom headers/footers, and of course, customization for how the chart data should render in the tabular format. There are two primary methods for getting a report: On-Demand or Scheduled.
NOTE: Legacy reports do not migrate into NextGen reports. If you have a legacy Reports server (idbreports), it is advised to undeploy or stop the service. Similarly, if you have a legacy Alerts server (idbalerts), it is advised to undeploy or stop the service.

- The next generation of Reports have returned to iDashboards, and they're better than before:
- Live Chart Preview
- This is HUGE!!! The Chart Designer has been redesigned and improved to make it easier than ever to customize your charts. First, we moved the chart specific properties into an existing menu, leaving a gaping hole where we could place a Live Preview for immediate feedback on the chart.
- Live Dashboard Preview
- Almost as HUGE!! The Dashboard Designer is an interface that doesn't show a dynamic dashboard because everything is under construction while in the Build interface. Prior to this feature, you could open a new tab, log into the View interface, and experience the live dashboard. But now, you can simply toggle your build dashboard into a view dashboard to see if you like the dashboard!
- Chart Designer > Searching
- Have you ever wanted to search for a particular data source or table name? How about a chart property...you know the name but can't find it!
- Friendly Session Timeout
- Have you ever wandered away from the iDashboards tab in your browser? Well, when you return, it wasn't always clear if you had been logged out or if you are still logged in. Now, you will get a countdown reminder of a pending timeout and it will be obvious when you are logged out.
- Large Number Abbreviation
- Primarily implemented on cartesian charts (charts with an X and Y-axis coordinate system), this will automatically abbreviate the number and apply one of the following measurement labels of "K" (thousands), "M" (millions), "B" (billions), or "T" (trillions). There are a few modes to play around with, None, Automatic or Fixed. You should be able to find one that satisfies your needs, if not please let us know :)
- Charts
- New SVG Drawing Chart: This might become the most powerful chart for displaying illustrative information in a dynamic, data-driven way. Using a well-crafted SVG file, this chart connects to data and interacts with the cursor to display shapes using range colors, a custom color, or no color at all.
- New Candlestick Chart
- New OHLC Chart
- Radar Charts: now have a radial option to use a circular plot area
- Details Chart: now has a text editor
- Pie Charts Totals
- Donut and Pie Charts: now have the option to display the grand "Total" (above, below or centered)
