Question
How can the reporting module be completely disabled so that the users do not have the option to run reports?
Resolution
First Method:
- You can turn Reporting off for anyone that does not have save rights for the dashboards or charts.
- iDashboards Admin -> System -> System Settings -> Report Settings
- Set the Reports Enabled by Default to False
- This will turn reporting off for all new dashboards and charts
- Now if you have charts and dashboards built you will need to go in and disable them manually. When you right click on a dashboard select Configure Reports
- On the bottom left check the box next to Disable report
- Once this has been done anyone who tries to create a report will receive the following message: Reports are not available for this dashboard
- You will need to do the same with Charts, right click on a chart and select Configure Reports
- On the bottom left check the box next to Disable report
- Once this has been done anyone who tries to create a report will receive the following message: Reports are not available for this chart
However, if you have save rights you can turn it on and run a report, which is why some may want to completely uninstall the reports module. Save rights meaning: Builder, Data Admin, or Admin.
Second Method:
Uninstall the Reports Module
- Stop Tomcat (Service: iDashboardsSRV)
- Go into the ../ivizgroup/ folder and Remove/Rename the Report folder
- Start Tomcat (Service: iDashboardsSRV)
- Now when anyone tries to run reports they will get the following message:
- Reports have not been installed.
- Now when anyone tries to run reports they will get the following message:
