This is only intended for iDashboards Administrators.
The iDashboards Administrator is the top level user role which experiences the Lobby. The Lobby is a special landing page that only appears when two conditions exist:
- Device type = Desktop Browser
- User role = Builder, Data Admin or Admin (User role NOT a Viewer)
The Lobby requires you to navigate into the interface you want to experience. If your user role is the Admin user role, you will see the options: View, Build, Admin, Moderate comments and Data Hub. For the Data Hub Lobby you will see the options: Data Sources, New Data Set, Edit Data Set, Imported Data, New ETL Job, Edit ETL Job, Server Status.
The iDashboards Administrator (Admin) application is a browser-based application used to configure an iDashboards Server. It is available once the idashboards.war file has been deployed to the application server and properly configured. Some key tasks that may be performed through the iDashboards Administrator application are:
- Creating Users, User Groups and assigning their privileges
- Creating Categories to be utilized to organize your: dashboard/chart/picklist/forms
- Creating connections to external Data Sources, Excel Data and Imported Files
- Organizing your Content (often images)
- Insight on the Alerts and Reports SMTP Server
- Managing System settings, such as: User Application Settings, Server Setting, Security Settings, SMTP Settings, Report Settings, Reports: Notification Email Settings, Alert Settings, Alerts: Mobile Settings, Alerts: Notification Email Settings, Forms Settings, Knowledge Base Settings, Public Access Settings.
- Other System settings include: setting up and enabling Authentication, Password Reset, Multi-Factor Authentication, System Log files, Imported Data Configuration, Dashboard Thumbnails, Manage Slideshows, Manage Public Access, Import/Export, View the Admin Manual, License information, Languages, and the About section which gives important information without obtaining a log file.
Alerts and Reports
Alerts, which are Real-Time notifications via e-mail on Chart or Dashboard Data, are now part of the Builder and Admin Manuals, as well as Reports. Reports is a functionality that generates data reports based upon data used to display a live chart or dashboard. The reports generated represent values from a snap-shot taken at a particular time. All of the data values from each chart are displayed all at once within a report, using a tabular, non-graphical format.
- Designing a report – Reports are automatically available on every chart and dashboard. However, there are options to specify report properties that control what information the report should display and how it should look.
- Viewing a report – PDF and HTML are the two options for viewing a report. Running a report will use default settings or specific settings that were defined during the optional design stage.
- Scheduling a report – Determine if a chart or dashboard report should remain an on-demand report or an automatically scheduled report.
- Determining the audience – Scheduled Reports can be for personal use or for groups of iDashboards users.
Unlike Viewer, Builder and Data Admin, the Administrator can also utilize all the functions of the software. So you have access all of the functions to ALL of the previously listed sections of the Knowledge Base. In addition to the Viewer, Builder, and Data Admin Sections you may also utilize the Language Packs and Advanced Topics, however, anything in Advanced Topics REQUIRE Access to the Server/Machine.
