This may require saving smtp.properties on your server in the configuration (config) directory as well as Admin privileges.
Issue:
Many iDashboards customer utilize Gmail as their corporate email. If Alerts has been deployed for the iDashboards installation then email alerts will need to be configured and sent to the Gmail accounts. The current release of iDashboards provides limited support for encrypted SMTP connections. However, since this feature has not been fully tested in all of its possible configurations, it is currently considered an unofficial, undocumented feature. In other words, we do not guarantee it will work with all mail servers.
Resolution:
- Save smtp.properties into your <ivizgroup home>/config directory, often found in the location:
- C:\Program Files\iDashboards_SRV\ivizgroup\config
- Log into iDashboards Admin, up top select System, then System Settings, on the left menu SMTP Settings, and enter the following properties:
SMTP Host: smtp.gmail.com
SMTP Port: 587
SMTP Service Requires Authentication: Yes
SMTP Service User: somegmailacccount@gmail.com
Email address of the user Alert emails will be sent from
SMTP Service Password: Password for somegmailaccount@gmail.com
SMTP Encryption: TLS (Transport Layer Security)
Host: smtp.gmail.com Port: 587 Requires Authentication: Yes Encryption: TLS
Please Note:
If you have Use Phone to Login, you will have to disable this to set this up, once you have run the Alert to connect to the server you can re-enable this feature in Gmail. This information has been tested by iDashboards Support. If you use 2-Step Authentication (MFA) then you will have to create an App Password and follow the Gmail App Password Documentation to set this up. This has not been tested by iDashboards Support.
