Service Releases

New Features
- Minimized Panel Apps: This feature introduce a new type of Dashboard Panel option, called “Minimized Panel”. Using this option, the panel app of your choice will first appear minimized (as a text button or image button). Then, when clicked-on, the panel will maximize using options like: in the same frame, as a popup dialog or as a slideout!
- Examples include:
- Reveal information about a chart query or instructions about how the data was collected.
- Provide documentation about a process.
- Display a large image
- Embed a web page into a pop up dialog
- Offer a Form to submit information
- ...and more!
- Examples include:
-
Copy/Paste Chart Properties: Built into the toolbar of the Dashboard Designer is a new method to Copy the properties of a chart and then Paste the properties onto a target chart(s) an unlimited number of times!

- Chart Drilldown Improvements:
- Drill to dialog or slideout: Currently, when navigating through the chart-to-chart drilldown process, there are two options for where the target chart will appear. In the same frame as the parent chart or in a different target frame within the dashboard. With this release, it will now be possible for the target to appear in a popup dialog or as a slideout!
-
- Drill to Home: This new icon allows a user to drilldown a consecutive number of times (which has always been the case). However, instead of traversing back "up", one-click at a time, there is a new home icon to jump back to the top-level chart or dashboard.
- Dashboard Panel
- New Panel Macros: Macros have been improved across the Dashboard Panel configurations (HTML, iFrame and Text Panel).
- In-Line Help: Released in v12.0 within the Chart Designer, users will now find in-line documentation within the Dashboard Panel dialog.
- Updated Icons: Improved for visibility
- Metrics Chart Improvement: The previous behavior of a metrics chart is to render a shape using a "Stretched" ratio (ensuring there were no gaps between the columns or rows. The new default behavior for this chart will be to use the new behavior of rendering a shape at a 1:1 ratio. If the stretched appearance is desired, it can ben enabled using the “Stretch Shape” property.
- Other
- Movable Chart Designer: Within the Dashboard Designer, you can not reposition the Chart Designer to peek behind at the rest of the dashboard space.
- Parameter Label Improvements: Various UI improvements to help with trimming labels and aligning fields.
- Dashboard Screenshots: Screenshots previously were captured only for the first page of a multi-page dashboard. Now, screenshots can be created for any multi-page dashboard!
- Data Preview via "View Data": From the Dashboard Builder, quickly preview the data for charts and picklists without having to open them first! The option is available on "back" of the dashboard tile.
-
-
- Rounded Bar Effect: Bar and Column charts now have an option to use a rounded end.

Data Hub
- ETL Canvas
- The ETL canvas has been greatly improved for ease of use and productivity. The following features are now easily accessible within the ETL canvas:
- Multi-Select: The ETL canvas now supports multi-select. Use this to CTRL-Click, SHIFT-Click, or window-select multiple tasks for quickly repositioning tasks.
-
-
- Copy/Paste/Delete: After selecting one, or many tasks, the ETL canvas now supports Copy, Paste and Delete tasks. Additionally:
- During the Pasting of a task, as many (if not all) configurations will be retained.
- Pasted tasks in succession will retain their flow lines so that you can easily link them into the ETL job wherever they need to be!
- Tasks can be copied from one browser tab and pasted into a different ETL job within a different browser tab.
- Copy/Paste/Delete: After selecting one, or many tasks, the ETL canvas now supports Copy, Paste and Delete tasks. Additionally:
-
-
-
- Undo/Redo: Easily undo or redo a move, paste, delete or placement of a task, restore a delete flow line, and more.
- Note: Undo or redo cannot be used within the configuration of a task
- Task Alignment: When multiple tasks are selected, use the alignment and spacing options to achieve the precise appearance we all enjoy when designing complicated ETL jobs!
- Undo/Redo: Easily undo or redo a move, paste, delete or placement of a task, restore a delete flow line, and more.
-
- ETL Task Notes: Each ETL task can now contain its own notes for documenting things for reference.
Administrative
- Real-Time Log Viewer: The administrative dialog for viewing the active log file is now a real-time log viewer. As tasks are being performed within the application, the log viewer will display the real-time activity based on the level of logging defined.
- Wall Display: There is a new option to license and create wall display users. Use this for a high number of wall display users to accelerate licensing and to simplify username syntax for each account. When used, the administrator must create Wall Display user accounts adhering to the following syntax.
-
<User Prefix><Numeric Suffix>
-
ex: lcd2
-
ex: lcd900
-
-
Other examples:
-
store37
-
store-37

- Server Event Emails: To avoid an excessive number of triggered email events a change was made to restrict server event emails (Job ID + Error Message) to a maximum of once per hour. Therefore, the same error, occurring every minute between 5pm and 8am, will only send 15x emails (instead of 900x).
Feature Retirement:
- Data Hub > Fit to ETL Canvas: The "fit" button has been removed from the ETL designer. Previously, this would recognize all out-of-viewport tasks (visible via scrollbar) and would bring the tasks back into a non-scrolling viewport. Because of the forceful nature of potentially moving dozens, or hundreds of tasks into a smaller confined space, this feature rarely satisfied the core issue, which was the ability to move multiple tasks at once. With the release of v12.1a, and the improvements to multi-select, tasks are easier moved on the canvas in a controlled manner.
- The ability to migrate Adobe Flash charts and dashboards was removed in this release. Therefore, if any legacy charts or dashboards remain within an installation, they should either be migrated prior to upgrading (v12.0c was the last release to support migration). Otherwise, after the upgrade takes place, all legacy items will be removed from the application interface.
- The ability to use a Derby Database for the repository, or as a Data Store, was removed this release
